If you have 14-21 year olds who like to read, you may be shocked to learn more about the category of books called "Young Adult": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Young-adult_fiction Here's an excerpt from that page: "From its very beginning, young-adult fiction has portrayed teens confronting situations and social issues that have pushed the edge of then-acceptable content... YA novels currently in print include content about peer pressure, illness, divorce, drugs, gangs, crime, violence, sexuality, incest, oral sex, and female/male rape."

If you browse the library YA section you'll notice it's even worse than that. Most of the popular books are centered on occult practices and mythology.

However, Sweetwater Still has something different to offer and we have YA/Young Adult literature coming out soon. Young Adult books are typically written for the 14-21 age group - but we're expanding that - our stories are edifying and enjoyable for ages 14-114. This genre' needs more books with HOPE and TRUTH and a Biblical worldview. Stay tuned!

We currently have a SERIES of Four Young Adult fiction stories in progress and we're accepting submissions from other writers. Pray for our writers, and pray for the young people who need inspiring stories to read.

NOTE TO AUTHORS:

Sweetwater Still is accepting submissions for stories that are interesting, challenging and edifying for young adult readers. These are not necessarily "children's books."

If you're a writer, even if you thought you wanted to write for adults instead -- consider this: these young people will be adults!

In fact, they'll be adults very soon. But right now they need more life-changing stories to read. Pray about writing for them.

We define our young adult fiction as any story whose main character is between 14 and 25 when the story begins and whose length is from 16,000 to 60,000 words.
