Once upon a time, far, far away, there lived a beautiful (and daring) princess who was good at absolutely everything and had a doting King for a father (who bought her many horses) and a loving Queen for a mother (who taught her how to ride them) and life was totally sweet, unless of course she had some huge problem to solve, like a hangnail or… Whatever. This isn't her story. Meanwhile in England, not so far away - over in Leeds actually - there's a girl called Livi who was raised by her older sister. Livi's no princess, she's not good at much (except the odd animal noise), and she's never ridden a horse. Her father went missing years ago and that's not really so bad, considering she never even knew her mum. She has a wild tale or two about why this might be, but then, Livi has a wild tale or two about pretty much everything. Livi's life is far from sweet - especially since she moved to the city, and started a new high school. Now her only friends are a painfully shy Jesus-freak (who collects banana stickers) and her quite peculiar family. Livi used to daydream about happily-ever-afters . . . but then she stumbled across some awful family secrets. She's quit daydreaming now. And yet . . . she can't help thinking there's something amazing coming - just around the corner, in fact. She just doesn’t know what it is yet. |
